The New Orleans Saints signed linebacker Todd Davis to a three-year contract and waived injured cornerback A.J. Davis, the team announced Monday.
Todd Davis (6-foot-1, 230 pounds) comes to New Orleans after playing at Sacramento State from 2010-13. In four seasons, he appeared in 45 games and posted career totals of 351 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 30 stops for a loss, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, six passes defensed and one blocked kick.
As a senior in 2013, he appeared in 12 games as his team's middle linebacker and posted a club-best 131 tackles (54 solo), five sacks, 10 stops for a loss, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, four passes defensed and one blocked kick.
A.J. Davis was originally signed by New Orleans following the 2012 draft. In two seasons with the team, the former Jacksonville State player appeared in one game on special teams. He was waived with an injury settlement in the 2012 preseason and then placed on the practice squad. He spent 2013 on injured reserve.
