Wintry weather is expected to develop for the upcoming weekend  from the south-central states to the northeast which could be affected by ice and snow. Travelers are urged to check the latest conditions and forecast before heading out this weekend.

Arctic air will once again slide south out of Canada as a storm system develops in the southwest. The storm will carry warm, moist air north which will override the dome of cold air at the surface. As a result, freezing rain, sleet and snow will all be possible as the system moves to the northeast with the potential for significant ice and snow which could make travel treacherous.

It is too early to pinpoint precipitation type and timing since the system hasn't made it onshore the west coast yet. Once it does, forecast models will have a better handle on the track of the developing surface low which will help us pinpoint details.
