Arctic air will prevent highs from getting much warmer than the lower teens Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will fall into the single digits quickly Thursday evening as winds diminish under a clear sky.

By Friday morning, temperatures will be near zero for the entire area. Snow-covered parts of Mid-Missouri, especially along and north of I-70, will have the best chances of dropping below zero.

Columbia has not dropped below zero since February 10, 2011. The temperature plummeted to -10 that morning.
