Early-morning flash flooding hits Waynesville
A complex of thunderstorms tracked across Camden and Pulaski counties early Tuesday morning bringing about six inches of rain in six hours.
The heaviest rain occurred near Waynesville (Pulaski Co.), where five to six inches fell. The heavy rain caused flash flooding, which resulted in the death of a four-year-old in Pulaski County according to Sheriff Ron Long. This rain caused the eastbound lanes of I-44 to be closed temporarily along with several other roads around Waynesville. Additionally, numerous homes in the town were flooded by the rising water.
More rain is possible through the next few days.
