Highs likely to reach 90 for first time in August
After a cool start to August, hotter and more humid air will push into the region. The hottest temperature for the month has been 88, which we've hit twice so far.
Highs will be near 90 Wednesday, which would be the first time this month that a temperature of 90 or hotter has been reached.
Highs have only been 90 or hotter 14 times this summer at Columbia Regional Airport, which is much lower than the 76 days that a high of at least 90 was achieved in 2012.
Average highs for mid-August are in the upper 80s.
