A surge of moisture and a cold front brought one to three inches of rain to Mid-Missouri from Tuesday, October 29 to Thursday, October 31. That rain eliminated severe drought statewide and reduced the amount of area covered in moderate drought.
Now more than half of the state (55%) is drought free, which is up from 48% last week. Additionally, moderate drought only covers 26% of the state this week compared to 33% last week.
The .75" to 1.50" of rain that fell on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be accounted for on next week's drought map. That map will be out next Thursday, November 14.
