The winter storm continues as snow is ending but bitterly cold air will stick around through Tuesday. Snow amounts of 3 to 8 inches have been reported across mid-Missouri from this storm with the highest totals east and south. Snow will continue to taper off through Sunday afternoon but blowing and drifting can be expected through Monday making travel difficult, especially on east-west roads. Temperatures will continue to fall with northerly winds of 15-25 mph continuing through Monday, giving us dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 35 below zero can be expected early Monday. Exposed skin can get frostbite in less than 30 minutes in these conditions.
Low temperatures Sunday night will bottom out at near 10 below zero, only reaching -5 to 0 Monday under partly cloudy skies.
