An area of low pressure will move in from the southwest early Friday bringing warmer air and moisture. Some light rain could move in as early as mid-morning Friday and with temperatures near freezing from HWY 50 northward, some freezing rain is possible through noon. (green is rain, pink is freezing rain & sleet)
As temperatures climb to the mid-to-upper 30s, most areas will see mainly rain during the afternoon with some sleet mixing in late in the afternoon north of I-70. As we head into evening, sleet and snow will spread farther south, turning to light snow overnight.
Preliminary forecast snowfall amounts come in from 2-4 inches from I-70 north with up to an inch near Jefferson City and less than an inch south of HWY 50. A glazing of ice is possible Friday morning closer to I-70 and again Friday night in the Lake of the Ozarks with some freezing rain and sleet.
The precipitation types could change if forecast temperatures come in warmer or colder. Please check back for updates and watch ABC17 News for the latest Stormtrack Forecast.
