Summer weather pattern returns

The first 19 days of August have been cooler than average with no 90 degree days. The upper level winds were primarily from the northwest this month sending mild air from Canada into the Midwest. Medium range forecast models show a change in the weather pattern through next week. The high pressure ridge aloft which has been parked in the southwestern states will build to the northeast through the central states. This will heat our daytime temperatures to near 90 and keep the storm track to our north, resulting in dry weather. This pattern looks like it will stick around through the end of the month.
