A winter storm will move through mid-Missouri Tuesday through early Wednesday bringing snow followed by bitterly cold air. Light snow will spread over the region Tuesday morning starting near HWY 65 in western Missouri just after daybreak and into eastern Missouri by noon. Snow will become steady through the afternoon and taper off to light snow showers Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
Most of the snow accumulation will come in the afternoon which will result in deteriorating road conditions as several inches of snow falls before evening with additional light amounts overnight.
Northerly winds gusting to 25 mph at times early Wednesday morning will cause blowing and drifting of snow across east-west roads. Temperatures will fall to the lower teens by Wednesday morning with wind chills near zero.
