Friday will start with temperatures in the 20s as rain moves in from the southwest. As the rain comes in contact with the ground and objects it will freeze and some ice will be possible on roads and sidewalks. Travelers are urged to use caution during the morning as roads could be slick.

Freezing rain will transition back to rain as temperatures climb above the freezing mark during the afternoon from I-70 south. Areas north of I-70 could see some sleet mixing in the the rain during the afternoon, changing to snow by late afternoon.

Temperatures will fall below freezing Friday evening with sleet and snow likely, turning to all snow from north to south through the overnight hours. Travelers should expect slow travel as the snow will stick to roadways as temperatures fall.

Some light snow and freezing drizzle is possible through early Saturday morning before ending. Overall snow totals of 2-5 inches are expected north of I-70 with lower amounts south.
