One dead, one wounded in early morning shooting in Columbia

Columbia Police dusted for fingerprints at an auto parts shops after a double shooting Sunday morning left one dead and one in the hospital. A detective on the scene told a reporter police were still collecting evidence and working the neighborhood.

Authorities received a call just before 2:30 Sunday morning from the 1400 block of Illinois Ave., just northwest of Providence Rd. and Business Loop 70. They found two victims at the scene and both were taken to the hospital.

40-year-old Rickie Dunn died at the hospital from his injuries and an 18-year-old man was injured.

“Right now they are re-contacting possible witnesses, the businesses in the area to gather video surveillance, and hoping to gather more information about who is responsible for this homicide,” said Latisha Stroer with the Columbia Police Department.

ABC 17 talked to neighboring businesses, all of them said they did not hear anything.

ABC 17 News is still working to learn if there is surveillance footage from businesses in the area.
