COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police say no arrests were made after witnesses reported a possible shooting Thursday night.

A release from the Columbia Police Department said officers were called to the intersection of Ninth and Elm streets around 9:47 p.m. for a report of shots heard.

According to the release, witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot. Witnesses allegedly told police a grey sedan was driving in the area and that a person got out of the car and shot at another person outside of the vehicle.

Police said the people suspected of the shooting ran to the University of Missouri campus where they were located and detained.

The release said the individuals were released because of a lack of evidence.

Officers said no people were hurt in the possible shooting and that no property was damaged.
