COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man accused of abandoning his wife's corpse in 2018 was arrested and booked into the Boone County Jail more than six months after charges were filed.

According to online jail records, 44-year-old Frank Spencer was jailed on a $100,000 bond at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday night.

Boone County prosecutors charged Spencer with a felony count of abandonment of a corpse after the body of his wife, Nicki Boring, was found on Feb. 19, 2019, in a field behind Spencer's residence on Quail Drive.

Investigators said Spencer left Columbia for Atlanta, Ga. on Nov. 30, 2018. According to his probable cause statement, Spencer told Boring's family the pair had moved.

Witnesses told police Spencer said, "whatever happened, I didn't do it," when he reached the bus stop.

Online court records say Spencer was arrested in Utah on Aug. 31.

It's unclear how Spencer was ultimately arrested in Boone County.

On Sept. 2, Boone County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said the prosecutor's office intended to extradite Spencer to Boone County but that the process could take up to 60 days.

ABC 17 News reached out to Swingle Wednesday morning for a comment but did not immediately hear back.
