Traffic stop outside Kingdom City nets two arrests for drugs, warrants

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. - Two people are out of the Callaway County jail after a traffic stop led to their arrests on Thursday night.

According to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, a deputy patrolling the Kingdom City area stopped a vehicle with Angel Morales, 28, of Columbia, inside around 10:15 p.m for a traffic violation.

A search of the vehicle was conducted after the deputy observed suspicious activity going on inside the vehicle. 

Deputies said methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were found hidden in the vehicle. 

Morales was arrested on possible felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he posted a $4,500 bond and was released pending a court appearance. 

Another person in the vehicle, Megan Martinez-Mendoza, 33, of Columbia, was found to be a wanted fugitive in Boone County on two criminal warrants for stealing. 

Martinez-Mendoza later posted a $1,373 bond and was released pending a court appearance.
