UPDATE: Local authorities end search for child missing in Boone County, no missing child reported

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. - UPDATE 6:26 P.M.: Just after 1 p.m. the Boone County Sheriff's Office was called for a girl between 10 and 14 years old that was in the area and reportedly took off running into the woods. The Missouri State Highway Patrol had a plane fly over the area and the Boone County Fire Protection District was called in to conduct a more extensive search. The BCFPD said it was turning the investigation back over to the Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE 5:54 P.M.: According to BCFD, units are clearing the scene at the travel center and didn't find anything in the search area requested by BCSD.

BCFD also said no children have been reported missing.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Boone County Fire Protection District, Boone County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are searching in the western part of Boone County for a child seen running from near the Midway Travel Center.

A tweet from BCFD says a drone team is using thermal imaging to survey a field and wooded area north of the travel center and that an aircraft was also called in.
