Lt. Governor receives security briefing ahead of Friday's transition

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Lt. Gov. Mike Parson received a security briefing at the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency on Thursday ahead of his transition into the governor's office.

“I appreciate the service of our leadership and personnel at the Missouri Department of Public Safety,” Parson said. “Emergency preparedness and the security of our state will always be my priority as governor and this was an important briefing on our ongoing efforts to keep our citizens safe. We are doing a lot more listening than talking as we prepare for this transition.”

Parson's office also said the lieutenant governor has spoken to U.S. Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill, and all eight members of Missouri’s congressional delegation and other state leaders.

A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday.
