Missouri students possess gun alcohol more than national average

According to a report released in May the national rate of incidents involving firearm possession in the 2014-15 school year was 3 per 100,000 students. In Missouri that rate was more than triple that, at over 10 per 100,000 students.

The national rate of alcohol-related discipline incidents was 45 per 100,000 students in the 2014-15 school year. In Missouri it was over 100, more than double the U.S. rate.

The report was produced jointly by multiple national organizations such as: The National Center for Education Statistics, Institute of Education Sciences (IES), in the U.S. Department of Education, and the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) in the U.S. Department of Justice.
