MO Task Force 1 stays in San Antonio due to strong winds from Hurricane Harvey

Crews will train while waiting to deploy further

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. - Missouri Task Force 1 crews were briefed Saturday morning that they will be staged in San Antonio until the strong winds from Hurricane Harvey calm down, which, they said in a Facebook post, might be a day or two.

Crews said the wind conditions are very dangerous because of a lot of debris is blowing around.

Members of MO-Task Force 1 plan to meet by discipline today, followed by "refresher" training this afternoon for swift-water rescue and helicopter operation protocols, crews said.

The team was able to get a few hours of rest after arriving in San Antonio late Friday night. They plan to get some more rest and hope to move forward tomorrow.
