Slick roads possible for Thursday morning commute

COLUMBIA, Mo. - ABC 17 News crews are monitoring road conditions throughout mid-Missouri as ice is expected to hit the area early Thursday morning.

Columbia Public Works said drivers should use caution as temperatures might drop throughout the day. They will have a full crew monitoring and treating roads all day.

The Missouri Department of Transportation Troop F tweeted, and they are also monitoring road conditions. Check MoDOT's traveler map to stay up-to-date with mid-Missouri's road conditions before you head out the door. Most Columbia roads were clear at 6:40 a.m.

Ice is accumulating on elevated surfaces like trees and fences.

Salt washes away easily on roads, making it difficult for crews to treat roads in icy conditions.
