Three students arrested, two hospitalized after fights at LU campus party

LUPD investigating 'several altercations'

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Several fights that broke out after a party on the Lincoln University campus led to the arrests of three students Sunday morning.

"Due to the number of people involved in the altercations, the Lincoln University Police Department requested assistance from the Jefferson City Police Department and the Cole County Sheriff's Department," said LU spokesperson Misty Young.

The Jefferson City Police Department's call log indicates three JCPD units were called to the campus address of 819 Chestnut St. at 1:21 a.m. Sunday.

The names of the students allegedly involved were not immediately released.

According to Young, one student was taken to an area hospital because of injuries from a fight. Another was hospitalized due to an unrelated medical condition.

Both of the students who were hospitalized were treated and released Sunday.

"A driver, in an attempt to get out of a parking space, did hit a Jefferson City Fire Department truck," said Young. "We do not have any information on damages to either vehicle."

JCFD Division Chief Jason Turner said there was minor damage to the truck and it's still in service.

LUPD is investigating the incident.
