Washington man charged with drug trafficking says he found the drugs at a truck stop

UPDATE: Davy Abeyta has been charged with drug trafficking for having more than 240 pounds of marijuana.

According to court documents, a trooper in Montgomery County noticed Abeyta following too closely behind two different cars. He pulled him over near the 175 mile marker of I-70.

The trooper noticed cargo in the back of Abeyta's pickup truck had a tarp over it and asked him to come back to the patrol car.

The trooper said Abeyta was overly nervous, swearing and breathing heavily. Abeyta said it was his first time traveling in Missouri but court documents indicate the Dodge pickup was seen in Missouri twice since October.

That's when the trooper got permission from Abeyta to search the truck and found the marijuana in four locked containers in the bed of the truck.

Abeyta said he found the boxes at a truck stop.
