Woman arrested after shots fired in Mexico, Mo.

MEXICO, Mo. - A Mexico, Missouri, woman was arrested on Thanksgiving evening after reportedly trying to run over a man with her car during a domestic disturbance.

The Mexico Public Safety Department said officers arrested Avianna Dorsey, 21, after being sent to the 900 block of Garfield for a domestic disturbance at about 5:30 p.m. On their way to the address officers heard a gunshot, the department said in a news release.

Dorsey had a gun when police found her and tried to run from officers, the release said, but she was arrested and no injuries were reported. She was booked on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.
