Weather Alert Day: Accumulating snow and ice Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning

The Stormtrack Weather Alert continues through Wednesday morning due to snow and ice accumulation that will make travel hazardous through mid-morning.

TIMING: Snow and a wintry mix will continue overnight with areas west-northwest seeing mainly snow mixing with freezing drizzle. Most areas will see freezing rain and freezing drizzle with light precipitation into early Wednesday morning. Drizzle and light snow will end by mid-morning.

At this time, anywhere from  a half inch to 3 inches of snow is expected across Mid-Missouri with highest amounts northwest and lower amounts to the south where the transition from snow to rain occurs earlier. A glaze to a tenth inch of ice is expected with higher ice amounts along of HWY 54.

IMPACTS: Roads are expected to become increasingly slick Tuesday night with a slow morning commute Wednesday. Temperatures will warm through the morning Wednesday with improving conditions as we climb above freezing.

Advisories are in effect until Wednesday morning... Give yourself plenty of time out the door to work tomorrow morning. Thankfully temperatures will rise well above freezing in the afternoon, with road conditions improving by early afternoon.
